Also Balar or Bolar (of the Evil Eye).
Balor of the Evil Eye was a king of a race of giants in Irish mythology. The son of Buarainech, Balor ruled over the semi-divine Fomorians, a race who was said to have inhabited ancient Ireland.
Balor had only one eye. When he was a child, he was watching Buarainech’s druids preparing poisons when some of the fumes from the concoctions rose into his eye. As a result, Balor’s eye gained the power to kill anyone it looked at. Hence, Balor is given the “evil eye” title.
