Ancient Mythology

Isis | Egyptian Mythology

Isis was a nature goddess of ancient Egyptian religion. She was the sister and wife of Osiris. The worship of Isis spread throughout the Mediterranean region and was resistant even to early Christianity.

In a popular myth, Isis assembled the pieces of her husband, Osiris, after he had been mutilated by Set.

Isis was often represented with the head, or sometimes horns, of a cow.
