Ancient Mythology

The Amazons | Greek Mythology

The Amazons were a group of women who were believed to have decended from Ares. They lived far away, beyond the Black Sea. Many of the Amazons had only one breast, as they had removed their right breast to more easily use a bow. The Amazons supposedly came to mate with men in other areas from time to time, and then raised their female children, discarding the males.

The Amazons fought against the Greek army in the battle of Troy.
