Ancient Mythology

Ea | Mesopotamian Mythology

Ea was a god of sweet waters to the Summerian and Babylonian peoples. The son of Ansar and Kisar and the father of Marduk. Ea is considered to be a very wise and all-knowing god, assisting mankind with arts and medicine.

Some myths say that Ea killed Apsu uppon learning that Tiamat planned to kill the offspring of her and Apsu's children. Ea also revealed Enlil's plan to destroy mankind with a massive flood (the Babylonian version of the Biblical Noah's Ark story).

With Anu and Enlil, Ea is part of a powerful triad of Gods.
