Ancient Mythology

Vigrid Plain | Norse Mythology

Vigrid was the battlefield of the final fight between the gods and the giants, Ragnarok. The Vigrid plain was a huge area of land, stretching 100 leagues in every direction. Despite its size, the plain would be filled completely with the assembled giants, gods and warriors.

The place is called Vigrid, where battle will join
Between Surt and the splendid gods;
a hundred leagues in every direction
it spreads, as all who know can tell.

(from Vafthrudnismal, a poem told by Snorri Sturluson of Iceland in the thirteenth century.)
